This is my inaugeral blog posting for what I hope becomes an ongoing process of both educating and informing readers about the details through to the pitfalls involved in selling and buying internet based businesses.
What gives us the right to our claim of internet business broker 'specialists' - is it arrogance or a nifty marketing ploy? We pride ourselves on the fact that we have actually been in the 'trenches' ourselves for many years prior to representing clients as internet entrepreneurs as well. We explicitly know and understand the ever morphing virtual landscape that this new business frontier challenges entrepreneurs with. We have had our own successes and failures and gained the valuable wisdom necessary to assess future opportunities for ourselves and our clientelle. Having owned multiple website businesses in numerous niches and business models ranging from ecommerce to social networking and pay-per-click content driven sites, we understand more than just the financial statements of an internet business, but also its operating models, mechanisms and growth opportunities.
With a combined 18 years of online business experience and having developed, bought and sold dozens of personal sites, we have extensive experience in the process and learned, sometimes the hard way, the unique nuances and deal structures that are common for online businesses. This unique perspective has provided us with an edge over other "internet" business brokers or traditional brokers who understand the basics of website business fundamentals mostly from a traditional business sense, but don't have the expeience themselves of owning and operating and selling themselves. So, I guess I can sum up my first blog by saying that what we really mean by "specialists" is a combination of experience, focus, internet marketing, knowledge, integrity and trust.
