I spent the morning with my children watching the historic inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama. As a Canadian living in the US, having two American born children and 3 weeks away from becoming naturalized, I am proud this day that I am going to become a US citizen myself in a few weeks. It really is exciting to see a leader that has inspired a nation divided and a world looking for true leadership and a future of hope.
As entrepreneurs we know what it means to take responsibility, to take action and be eternally optimistic. The innate ability of entrepreneurs to hold a vision through to its fruition is the back bone of a great country and the core of the truth that all men and women have the opportunity to realize any dream they may embrace.
Let us take this new found energy and optimism of the moment and make a difference ourselves in our world through our own efforts to make ourselves, our families, our communities and our businesses thrive anew. The opportunities in this country and around the world are wide open - especially via the internet - which allows us to connect globally. There has never been a better time in history to embrace your dream and take action than now. A lot of people are putting a lot of hope into the new President. It’s a great sign because it points clearly to the fact that the masses have had enough with the ideals held be the previous administration and much of corporate America; that is that profits and growth are always good things. When the growth sells our future by destroying the environment (like in the case of the energy/oil and automobile industry) and the profit taking drives our middle classes into financial collapse (examples are clearly the recent practices of Wall Street and the mortgage industry), government is not serving the people. It’s undoubtedly shirking it responsibility at best, selling out at worst. The change in administration opens the door for a new attitude of hope. But clearly, it is the personal responsibility of each and every one of us to rebuild what has fallen. The entrepreneur spirit is what created this country’s prolonged economic prosperity, and its revitalization in each of us, whether in our own businesses or while at work in the corporate America, will regain the ground lost in the past eight years. And hopefully our experiences of late will allow us to begin making more holistic decisions as it relates to our economy, the environment, and the other nations that we share the planet with. Remember the adage, those that refuse to learn from their past are destined to relive it! I’d like to pass on doing this uniformed, uninvolved, un-evolved, unbelievable time in history a second time.

I agree - I am also convinced that the election results show a true determination toward change from the people in this great country. Change is required to get things turned around. This is a nation that was founded on the backbone of great entrepreneurial thinkers and doers. People that are not fearful to step out and make an impact on the state of the country as well as the marketplace! I for one, am looking to improve my situation by seeking out the right opportunities that fit my personal mission and continue to forge forward and make my mark.
